Sometimes words just get in the way. The strength of the metaphor, of the poetry, of the music is all in the vagueness. The listener takes from the lyric what they need to take. Explanation, definition, and tying the meaning down to one interpretation just robs the moment of its power.
In that spirit, I will stop here.
“Blackbird”
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Perfect! The best lyrics are always the ones that you can make your own.

Black Birds – how I love this song! And very well said: “The listener takes from the lyric what they need to take”. Listen and enjoy!
